It’s the End of an Era at The Bird at Birtle

After an incredible 32 years at the helm, the much-loved Jean Nutter has announced her retirement from The Bird at Birtle.

At 85 years young, Jean has been the heart and soul of the business since it first opened as French Connection, and her dedication, warmth, and hard work have made The Bird a truly special place for so many. We’re delighted to share that new owners have now been found.

To celebrate Jean’s remarkable career, we’ll be hosting a special Sunday Lunch Extravaganza on 12th October — a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one final meal at The Bird and raise a glass to Jean before she officially hands over the keys.

All bookings up to and including 12th October will, of course, be honoured.

Jean would like you all to know the hardest part of this decision is dear Rodney’s legacy – it was his baby! Saying goodbye to our dedicated staff and of course the wonderful customers who have supported us through the 32 years. Your loyalty and enthusiasm have meant the world to us and we are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together.
